Sound resources - pdsounds.org AND a small sound making tool

Post by qubodup » Sun Dec 30, 2007 8:26 am

I recently found this page, which features public domain sound recordings. unfortunately in mp3. Do you think that is a problem? (The admin tells me that he needs a developer who would allow the drupal system to 1. upload other formats 2. integrate flash or java players which play these formats...)

http://www.pdsounds.org/

Post Scriptum: http://forum.freegamedev.net/index.php?t=msg&th=295 is my list of game media resources in general.

PPS:
Small sound-making tool for newbs like me: http://forum.freegamedev.net/index.php?t=msg&th=567

Sweet, thanks for pointing that out to us :approve:

The only problem with MP3 in our case is that we use the OGG format (if you make a game that uses MP3 audio, you have to pay a huge royalty fee, regardless of what type of game you're creating or under what license). You can convert a MP3 to an OGG easily, but because MP3 and OGG are both different lossy codecs, its not recommended since there's some unavoidable quality degradation. But having slightly less quality sounds is better than no sounds at all, and we can always use them as a base for a SFX artist to polish them. :)
