Exquisite. (have you thought about giving her a beauty mole?) lol

There was a little piece of dirt on my monitor and it looked like a small mole on her left cheek while the picture was centered on the monitor. It actually looked really good. Anyways...

Awesome job, beauty mole or no.

S-K, we've decided to use this in another screen as well (the full body portrait), can I get one at a resolution of 262x350 (1.75 times larger, then the one I already used.) I did a resize myself, but it's not very good quality.

I think he requested a resize of the full-body portrait, not the face ones.

By the way, how do you scale everything up and down so nicely anyway? I can't get things to scale well in GIMP no matter what I try usually. :(

:heh: Plain answer to that you can't :p Images can only be scaled down.

When you are resizing an image up, you're just altering the number of pixels in it... The computer just generates pixels to feel in where there no information there before. This is why images get so blurry and out of focus... (now some programs instead of causing a blur side-effect... they will cause pixelation)

I was confused by the phrases of the request :)

Yup. This is called interpolation (sometimes more loosely called "resampling").

Which of these two outcomes happens, depends on which interpolation method you use. Most programs can't set this, but some major ones like Photoshop, and the Gimp, can. This is generally set in the preferences dialog.

Choosing "Nearest Neighbor (Photoshop)" or "None (Gimp)" will result in pixelation.

Choosing "Bicubic (Photoshop)" or "Cubic (Gimp)" will result in blurriness.

Also, Bilinear/Linear is basically just a slightly suckier (but faster) version of Bicubic. There's no good reason these days to use it instead of Bicubic. There are also other interpolation methods out there (Lanczos, for example), but they're almost never better than Bicubic, and if they are, it's only slightly. Also, there are some methods for extreme edge cases, like resizing nintendo sprites with a very low color set, that preserve edges better (SAI, Eagle, S2x, etc), but those generally only work for doubling the size, not anything inbetween.

They look good...I notice the consistency between laila and her mother in the overall anatomy of the face and how it might realistically age over time. Really nice work on that.

One crit, Lailas mother looks like a modern day washed out hippie mom that was WAYY too much into the 60's...She looks a bit too 'washed' out.

There seems something odd with the color/light source on Marcus, especially on his hair. Is that just supposed to be gray hair? If so, IMO the gray hair should be a little more distributed and less localized in one particular region, because (at least for me) it was not intuitive why the hair was colored that way on first sight (his hair look perfectly young and healthy in the back). I actually didn't even think that it might be gray hair until I was writing this post.

I'm really liking the new portraits. My only complaint (however trivial) is Laila's mom. Her eyes have no color, almost making her look (somewhat) undead. I dunno, I just watched Underworld: Evolution last night and her eyes remind me of the werewolves when they are changing.

Re: Laila's Mom.
:approve: Nice.

Inasmuch as suggestions go - I'd possibly brighten up her eyes a smidge; enough to match laila's. The aging applied to her is great, though.

On a side note; I'd try towards making her hairs a bit more wispy when they end - not unlike those on her husband's neck/moustache. Finally, something seems a bit funny with the wraparound of her bandanna, but I'm not quite sure what it is.

It's always awesome to see a new picture of yours. :D

And shucks - we should probably toss this into the release, since she does have her sprite in there, right?
