Nice improvements!
(just deleting my helmet file changes thankyouverymuch ;-) )

There is also a wooden shield still not added in your set (I used also the wesnoth logo one to create another image... cheap)

If I have the time to improve them another notch I'll post my magic scroll, breast plate and cloack icons. (Thus finishing the set I was doing for Freelords)

Quite to the contrary, I think that these are pretty good. The scroll has some (literally) rough edges, but fixing that and a tad of shading will make it quite excellent.

Another one I forgot...

Plus another shield (from lionhard) you seems to forgot to include...

 It is now time...

... for more.

(P.S. I really need to get around to tweaking a few of the above fmuñoz icons - some are fine as they are, others, like the shirt, need some minor tweaks.)

18 new icons. Francisco Muñoz is responsible for a good part of the new ones, and Pekka Aikio also helped out a bit:

 The only type of icon we are missing for the you-know-what is an icon for a basic/standard leg armor. What is the leg equivalent of gauntlets anyway? Leglets? :heh:

If you are Jennifer Beals and your leg armour is made of cloth, Leggings could be just barely ok :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leggings
but the loger leg armour is called greave
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greave
Go look at:
http://www.armadilloarmory.com/Hxplatearmour.htm
Look at the part 27....

So, "greaves" are lower-leg armor, and would really be acceptable, in a videogame, as a term for leg armor.

Technically speaking, there are names for all the different parts that make up full leg armor, but "greaves" are the most well-known, and allacrost isn't going to break the leg armor into separate components for the upper and lower leg, along with knee-pads, and taces, etc. That'd be too fine-grained for the 'MAPS', and 'MAPS' is currently at an optimal amount of granularity.

I did a bit of work tonight to make a greaves icon, which we are in immediate need of.

[img:60:60]http://www.allacrost.org/staff/user/roots/art/karlate_greaves.png[/img]

I think it looks pretty good (especially for me), but there are also some problems.

1. Rough edges.

2. Too many colors! (The 60x60 PNG file is over 2MB :eyespin: )

3. Maybe its not very obvious what they are? I think that reducing the colors would help with this though.

I created it by taking a JPG of some old greaves that I found, tried to touch up the edges, applied a little bump mapping to give it some "war-metal" texture, and played around with the colors a bit.

If any competent artist has a minute, I would be very grateful if my start can be given a professional make-over. :heh:

Updated the image since no one served my request. :(

[img:60:60]http://www.allacrost.org/staff/user/roots/art/karlate_greaves_v2.png[/img]

1. Smoothed edges with the smudge tool in GIMP

2. Apparently the file size was never as bad as I thought it was. It's about the same size as all the other icons. :)

3. Still :| about whether its obvious what these are supposed to be or not.

I'm actually fairly happy with the job I did on this though. :D But I'm sure that once another artist touches it, they're going to send me back to artist noob-ville. :ohnoes: :heh:

I think they look pretty good for now. A bit more "stone" like than "metal," but that shouldn't be too hard a fix for an experienced artist. The shape seems about right...

Not really - you've done a pretty good job with these.

Really, the only thing to change would be adding folds in the metal (to indicate a sort of separate kneecap section), and adding straps to hold the thing on (and likewise, mounts for those straps). What you've done so far is actually ... excellent. It looks very much like metal.

:( I'll try and get to this as soon as I can, I've been crazy busy lately.

Suddenly, I had ... time. From now on, I'll be splitting these into major sets - for now, set #1 will be wesnoth attack icons, and set #2 will be allacrost item icons. (Set #2 is more-or-less exclusive to allacrost; wesnoth doesn't really have any place to use these now, since our game doesn't really support "units possessing/equipping items" like an RPG. The few instances where units do pick something up are more or less hacks, rather than a proper feature. So yes, we are now in the realm of not borrowing stuff from wesnoth, and rather, having stuff of our own.)

Also, to make things easier on Roots, and to leverage my unusual skill/toolset at compressing PNGs, I'll attach all these icons in dandy little .zip files. I'm moving the old image, so any links to that will break, but I'll try and keep the following links stable.

I had done a couple more of items, a amber pendant and a kantele (finnish musical instrument)
[img:60:60]http://exong.net/wesnoth-attach/files/ambernecklace_526.png[/img]

[img:60:60]http://exong.net/wesnoth-attach/files/kantele_165.png[/img]

Maybe they need a bit more work on them...

And I think that there is another wall shield in imperial era (but it really looks like the other one).
