After leaving the Allacrost team, I traded a few emails with Roots, mentioned the game I was working on had finally been finished, and he told me I should post it here. So... Here ya go.
Lynn's Legacy is an independent 2d action RPG, inspired by the likes of Secret of Mana,
the Soul Blazer series, and the first three Zelda games.
The story follows the character of Lynn, a ball 'n chain wielding mercenary who
wakes up in a small forest clearing after being blown out of the sky on a
mysterious escort mission. She has almost no recollection of the events leading
up to this point, and things only get stranger-- Portals leading to entirely new
dimensions, strange encounters with sentient seeds, and an odd spectre of a man who
calls himself Moth...
This is a project we've been working on for several years (since about mid-2003),
though 'serious' development on what became the current version hasn't been going on
quite as long. (Started Feb. 18th, 2005.)
After an extremely stressful few months, seemingly endless testing, and hearing
that damned dungeon song for the millionth time, it's all finished.
Eight dungeons, four overworld areas, five chapters...
This was a very difficult project to complete.
We hope you enjoy the final product.

Development has been extremely stressful for the past few months (more?), and personally I'm just glad that the game's finished. Opinions on it have been pretty divided so far, some people absolutely loving the game and others expressing severe frustration with some of the later, more convoluted and meandering dungeon designs or general gameplay. (I will admit-- and warn you all-- that the fifth dungeon is extremely huge and convoluted to the point of frustration. I ain't proud :p)
I've learned so much from all this, though-- in fact, most of it from the negative comments and criticism-- and to be perfectly honest there's probably lots of things I'd change if I were to do this kind of thing again.
As it stands, however, I'm glad that we managed to finish this project on time without rushing it at all, or removing huge chunks of gameplay/features. If I could, I'd go back and completely redesign some dungeons and tighten up alot of the maps, but at this point I really don't want to even hear the words 'game design' for a loooong time.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, I wrote the story, pixelled the graphics, composed the music and made the maps. Dungeon/boss designs are also by me, in case you need someone to blame. :p cha0s coded every aspect of the game and handled the scripting behind all cutscenes/events.
Anyway, I've rambled on long enough. (bad habit...) Give the game a shot, judge it for yourself-- We've put all our heart and effort into creating Lynn's Legacy, and it was very difficult to complete. Hope you all enjoy it.
