Re: Newbie's guide for compiling HoA with Visual studio 2005

Maybe the simplest way to compile programs on Windows is to use cygwin: http://www.cygwin.com/ With the setup program, you can install several programs for Windows, including binutils, gcc, g++, a shell environment, make, automake, etc.

MINGW

Has anyone tried using MinGW instead of Visual Studio? It works fine cross-compiling from Linux. I'm pretty sure it will work in Windows too. Make sure you use the MIngw dependencies, instead of the Visual Studio dependencies: http://www.allacrost.org/staff/user/winter_knight/allacrost-win32-depends...

Re: Luabind 0.8.1 does not compile if libboost version > 1.34

This has been a long-standing problem with luabind, and is NOT specific to Debian. The problem is that Allacrost must be compiled with the same version of boost that luabind is compiled with. We have run into this problem before, and we will probably run into it more.

Re: Subversion Commit Log

I'm still here. I'm going to be busy before the holidays. I might come back and work on Allacrost next month.

Kudos to you, rujasu, for dedicating time to the script. We should all be spending more time scripting the story, and less time redoing the game engine and modes.

The shop mode cursor

Where is the shop mode cursor supposed to be? The shop mode cursor is a sword. Is it supposed to be on top of the item, like it is now, or should the tip point to the item, like it used to? Shop mode is pretty buggy, so I'm not sure if that was intended or not. The current behavior of shop mode does...

Re: Subversion Commit Log

I wouldn't really call shop mode functional. The cursor gets stuck in buy mode, and if you only have 1 item, there is no cursor in sell mode, and you can't sell anything.

I found this page: http://www.clanlib.org/examples.html and especially this image: http://www.clanlib.org/gfx/screenshots/large/guicustomcomponent.png Does anyone know what game that image is from? Re: Forum spammers are back

Thanks rujasu. Before I read your post, I was going to suggest to Roots that he do the same thing. It's pretty easy to test. As for the programming forum getting the spam posts from registered users, my guess is that that is because the programming forum is the forum with the most views, that regula...

Remember, guest posting is already disabled in every forum except for "Ideas and Game Features." That one forum still allowing it seems more like a bug, or oversight, than an intentional decision.

Re: Getting gettext & translation into Allacrost

I've asked this before, and I think gorzuate answered, but I forgot. How do we test gettext and translation? I can test it on Windows (and Linux), and report if it works or not.

Re: Editor Crashing Bug

I just committed my optimizations for Grid::paintGL(), and before I did, I cleaned everything up, and checked to make sure it still worked. Desert Village works fine. It is perfectly editable; not slow at all. Much better than I was expecting. I think my optimizations had something to do with it, an...

Re: Editor Crashing Bug

The map mode code only draws the tiles that are visible on the screen for the current context. Usually this is just the lower layer and a few tiles in the upper or middle layers. If the editor is trying to draw everything in every single frame, that would be a big cause for a slowdown on larger map...

Re: Editor Crashing Bug

I commented out every instance of updateGL(), and the editor still works fine when editing the mountain village. In this state the editor will still work correctly, but I do not consider it to be as user-friendly as is necessary for this kind of application. The problem lies elsewhere. Removing the...
