Re: 1.0 Release Maps -- Design, Scripting and Events

This all seems fine to me. I should be able to give better feedback once it's scripted and I can actually walk through it, but in general it sounds like a good start.

Cool. Do you have a list of maps that need to be made?

Re: Release 0.1.0: Map Mode/Editor Feature Changes

As long as it makes maps easier to develop it's probably a good idea.

Re: Licensing and attributing

CC-BY-ND shouldn't be allowed either. The NoDerivs clause not only restricts what others can do with our content, it restricts what we can do with it. If we use something with CC-BY-ND, we can't modify it. That's a huge deal-breaker for us. After thinking this over a bit more, I'm going to have to ...

Re: Newly forum members are not showing up in the memberlist

Click the "joined" column and it will sort in reverse order of join date. This will show you the most recent members.

I don't know why it cuts off some of the members though, it's strange.

Re: How do I compile the game without compiling the editor ?

I tried to see both INSTALL and README to see if either has solution to my problem but couldn't be wiser by either. I do have libqt4-dev installed so don't know what the issue is :-p Hi! In addition to qt4-dev, you'll need qt4opengl-dev. I'm guessing that's the issue, but let us know if it's still ...

Re: Licensing and attributing

I always hear this "GPL isn't designed for media" and while it's technically true, it doesn't really matter. Just keep the GPL2; trying to put the media into a different license after all this time and distribute the whole thing under multiple licenses is going to give us far more headache...

Re: 0.1.0 Release Design Considerations

This is not true. What if there is a part of the game where the party needs to infiltrate an enemy base, disguised as one of their soldiers? It would look pretty silly if they are running around talking to soldiers, dressed in their usual unique garb. It's easy enough to tell on a map which sprite ...

Re: 0.1.0 Release Design Considerations

Portray Claudius a Normal Knight I think it might be nice if Claudius does not initially have his own unique look. In other words, he has the same sprite animations as all of the other knights in the party. That way he does not appear "special" to the player in the beginning of the game i...

Re: Can't compile editor: Qt4 dev libs not found

I don't know if this is really a good option, but one can also use symbolic links to the libQt... files. Maybe create the lib folder in /usr/lib/qt4 and link all files into this folder. Maybe someone with more experience in Linux can tell me if this can be done or better should not be done... Yeah,...

Re: Can't compile editor: Qt4 dev libs not found

If other Linux systems have the same issue, I guess we'll just need to add more possible paths to the library. At least we know now how to add that support. Well, what I'm thinking is there may be a system variable we can reference, based on the current architecture? I don't know enough about M4 or...

Re: Name changes to some things in the game

I agree on the first and second points, no opinion on the third. If there's anything else that we should consider renaming, now is the best time to do it before we start having to support older releases. I don't think that matters all that much. If we decide down the road to change something...

- On second though, I'd rather stick with tabs for indentation. It's worked for us just fine for years.

Good. I hate the four-spaces formatting thing and it bothers me on all sorts of irrational levels that people actually like it. Ugh.

Re: Discussion: moving from SVN to git or Mercurial

I've never heard of anyone actually using Mercurial. I wouldn't use that one. Git seems to be widely used by good-quality projects. I'd say stick with SVN, or move to Git if you're feeling really motivated.
